One of the strong forces on the campus are the political groups...this is especially true in the Law Faculty where I am working. Currently it is elections week, and the different students groups (which for the most part have some type of political affiliation) are campaigning to get voted in to be the official student organization for the faculty.
Today while sitting at our table (set up to get to know the students and share with them about who Vida Estudiantil is) we were moved aside as the major group, Movmiento Joventud Popular (MJP) came through yelling
M-J-P...POR AHORA...POR SIEMPRE!!
Translated: M-J-P...FOR NOW....FOR EVER!!
These students are passionate about changing their country, and are sold out that MJP can do this.
Fast forward 8 hours and I am at Crossfire, the Wednesday night youth group for Crossroads Bible Church, where I have begun serving as a small group leader. During our time of worship we sang 'Desde mi interior' (From the inside out - for you english speakers). One of the lines goes as such
Tu luz por siempre brillara.
Tu gloria incomparable sin final
Translated:
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never Ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
What a contrast that really has me thinking. These students need this light. Their political group, MJP and all others will fade...God's light and glory with without end.
This has reinforced for me why I've entered every 1st year class in the law faculty to present them with Vida Estudiantil and why we sit out there admist these political groups gathering students who want to see the university changed through the good news of Jesus Christ. These students have passion that they are going to put into something, these students want change to happen in their school, country and world. We can do that...and so much more through Christ, the changes can go beyond the temporal and into eternity....

Hey Steve, I enjoy that song as well. I listen to the album on my way to work in the morning. During my day in different situations the words are an reminder to me to let the Lord change me, "from the inside out."
