I had to wait a day before I wrote this update because I think I am still processing all that happened over the past 10 days or so. I think Isaiah 55:9 sums it up when God says:
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
As part of the planning team for the trip, we had our ideas, our ways of doing things. What we found when we arrived and made ourselves available to God was that He had his ways planned out and we were blessed to go along with Him as He impacted lives in the Dominican Republic. Israel, a Dominican student who started to help us out said "When God calls you to go somewhere, He is going to prepare things for you to do there." This struck me as we saw God open door after door during the trip.....Israel has also comitted to staying with the movement and disciple the male students.
Over our 10 day trip we say Panamanian students grow in their faith, Dominican students come to faith and a movement be born on the 1st University in the Americas (Universidad Autonomo de Santo Domingo).
Some of the trip highlights include:
- Showing the Jesus film to 250 people in a poor neighbourhood of Santo Domingo
- Sharing the vision of Vida Estudiantil live on national TV
- Going out sharing with Lorenzo, a Panamanian student, and seeing people's lives impacted for eternity
- The concert and fiesta we held outside the main Library at the University...several hundred students heard the Gospel as well as interacted and learned about Vida Estudiantil
- A solid core of commited students left behind to continue the work
As a staff member, a big highlight for me definately was just seeing the project itself become a reality. Not in my wildest dreams would I have said two years ago when I first came to Panama that a trip like this would be possible...but with God all things are possible.
IN all it was a ten day trip, but at the end of it I was reminded that these 10 days have had an impact on eternity. Not only through the people who we saw saved, but more importantly through the Dominicans who were left behind that will continue the movement.

Wow, sounds like a super awesome time! It's hard to believe it's over already. It felt like yesterday that we were still praying for everyone's support to come in. Glad to hear all that God has done and that you all came home safely :)
