How are you? Hope things are going well...feel free to write me at steve.scott1983@hotmail.com and tell me whats up.
Life down here is flying by and things are really going well. I've realized how important consistency is and have been blessed to have a good long run at the University of full weeks without too many meetings/sickness/other commitments etc... One of the things that has really encouraged me has been my boys. I am currently meeting up with 5 guys on a regular basis at the National university: Joel, Alexis, Obed, Luis and Diego. What has really impressed me as of late has been their desire to not just show up at a Bible study etc... but to make a difference in their University, to be the ones reaching out.
This past Monday I had the opportunity to go out with Luis to share our faith. It was exciting and Luis was excited. We met up with Fransisco, a 1st year Architechture student. Although Fransisco didn't really believe in anything, he knew about who Jesus was. As we explained to Fransisco God's plan and who Jesus was and what He did Fransisco began to understand and try to hide his smile. For me it was a really cool moment to see Luis take the steps to led Fransisco to Christ that day. Pray for follow up with Fransisco...
This week has been great, but also pretty tiring, partly because last weekend we went on a youth retreat for the weekend with Crossfire. Between running around with kids, worship sessions until 1:30 in the morning and general mayhem not much sleep was had by our team...but it was worth the effort. Saturday night we saw several students recieve Christ as well as many more be challenged to really start living out the Kingdom of heaven here and now.
As I write this I am counting down HOURS until the Dominican republic...I'll be at the airport in 47 hours!!! I think I am begining to understand the significance of taking the Panamanians on a missions trip. Each time I talk with the students who are going they cannot stop showing their excitement. They have all been blown away by God's faithfulness in providing for their needs and are expectantly waiting to see what's next....
I look forward to writing you when I get back from the Dominican, until then please keep us in your prayers....
Here are some pictures from the retreat for your enjoyment...I sure enjoyed it.
