FIRST WEEK!!

Dear Blog

Well its been a long week but oh so worth it. This week we hit the ground running at the National University. Monday thru Wednesday we had information tables set up in the Humanities, Science, Architecture and Law faculties. Each day hundreds of students passed by getting information on the group, signing up for Bible studies or eating our free candy. The highlight for me was Tuesday afternoon. In the morning I had been a bit worried what would happen at 1pm, when I had to go over to Interamericana to have my Bible Study. However through the day more and more of the students involved with Vida Estudiantil stopped by and started helping at the table. By the time 1 o'clock rolled by the table was being completely run by the students. It was exciting to see them taking leadership and reaching out to their classmates and university!

The Band on stage...

The week culminated on Thursday afternoon when my friend Jose Andres and his band, along with Oliver put one a concert at the open air theatre in the centre of Campus. Despite the mid-day heat lots of students came out to listen to the concert and hear 2 students give their personal testimonies. Again it was a great time to connect with students as well as reconnect with students from last semester. As I walked around taking pictures students kept on stopping me asking how they could be a part of Vida Estudiantil and what else we do.

Students gathered under the trees to stay out of the sun while they came to the concert

So thank you for your prayers...they worked!!! Although I was super encouraged by what I saw this week I have such hope that I won't know the full impact of this week until eternity. I just think of Ana (one of the students who gave her testimony at the concert), it was last year at a similar concert that she came to know Christ and has since grown in her faith and continues to share it with others. My prayer is that from the students who came out that there was another 'Ana' in the crowd.

Next week we start up with Bible studies on the national university and keep on trucking across the street at Interamericana.
