Dear Blog

Feliz Navidad! Its hard to believe that in a few short days it will be Christmas. Things down here in Panama have been a little out of the ordinary lately with trips to El Valle and then Santiago. We are now back in the city for a week full of Christmas parties, plays and dinners. So far it has been a really good time to connect with friends and in community worship the king who came.

Today as part of our Christmas themed team meeting we shared our favorite Christmas verse. Mine came from Matthew 1:21-23:

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).

Verse 21 and 23 really get to me. 2 names, 2 promises. Jesus and Immanuel. He will save us from our sins and He is God with us.

A cool story....

Last May I briefly met a girl named Cielo from Santiago. She had become a Christian when a couple of Canadian students approached her and talked to her. I met Cielo again last Monday when we went to the Santiago Christmas party where I also met Elizabeth, who had been invited by her cousin Yoljanie. Yoljanie told me that she too was a new Christian who had been introduced to Christ by Cielo only a month and a half earlier! For me it is so exciting to see this chain of spiritual multiplication happening in such a real way! Following 2 Timothy 2:2, Cielo is taking the things she has heard and passing them on to her friends and family!

We've also been busy with Christmas parties and celebrations...

Anyways thats all for now.

Until next time FELIZ NAVIDAD
