Power of Prayer

Dear Blog

"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it" - John 14:14

I was struck this week by the way God answered my prayers. As classes started up again, we also headed back on to campus. Our week was focused on evangelism, simply going out and talking to students. Being the summer semester there aren't too many students around, although the peacefulness of the campus seemed to create a great atmosphere in which to share our faith.

Each day before heading our separate ways on campus we meet as a team to pray. On Tuesday (our first day on campus) I really prayed for the chance to share the TRUTH of the Gospel, that Jesus is the only way to Salvation. Heading out with Lindsey we went to the Law Faculty, normally a chaotic mass of students, and were greeted by an empty foyer apart from one or two students sitting around. Seeing one, we approached Roberto, a second year law student. We immediately struck up a flowing conversation about life, Canada, Panama and progressively Spiritual topics. As the conversation progressed a verse came up

"I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me" - John 14:6

Soon his friend Alberto came and after an hour of conversation we went through the 4 Spiritual Laws booklet - which clearly explains the Gospel and the TRUTH of Salvation through Jesus alone. They both accepted Christ that day and even joined us for lunch. Pray for follow up with these guys!

Wednesday morning came and I headed to the airport with Mackenzie. Afterwards I took care of a few things and headed on to the campus in the afternoon, not having really prayed about the afternoon of evangelism. In the end, nothing happened of significance.... (Although Mack did get home safely!)

Thursday morning came and once again we met to pray. I prayed that I might be able to share the love of Christ with someone. Heading out with Raquel towards Architecture, we approached Lorena. It turned out she wasn't a student but as she was driving through the University she got a flat tire. As we were talking to her about faith I felt led that I should fix her tire. So I asked her and she was more than happy to let me fix her tire...which I had the privilege of doing twice when it turned out the spare was also flat. Although many words weren't used, I believe that we were able to show her Christ's love by helping her out in need.

As I write this I'm still processing the past week, but I definitely have been convicted to pray more specifically. Which is actually something as a team we are doing. Look on the right column of this blog and you will see our prayer goals for this semester. Please join my team in praying for these things!

Until next time keep fit and have fun!
